.99 Steak and Chops

Dot 99 Steak and Chops has been around for about 2 years. The last I dine here was close to one year ago. After so long, I'm very happy with the food. The standard of the food is still remained.

One thing that has changed is now the crowds are lesser. Last time it used to very busy during the weekends and service is very slow due to business too good. Well, I guess is maybe the food price has gone up that's causing less people to dine here. If i'm not wrong, the price has revised twice. First time the price revised was in June 2008 and it was after the sudden fuel price increased and the second time was beginning of 2009.

Minute steak RM13.90
They should change the name to mini steak. The portion
is small and that is what we get for the price that we are paying :)

King burger RM10.90

Value for money: big portion and satisfaction guarantee!

Quality steamboat: Xin Chun Seafood Steamboat

Last night me dar & I have a steamboat dinner plan with his buddies at Kota Damansara. His friend recommended this steamboat shop from pulau ketam call Xin Chun. The shop is not located near where all the F&B and it's situated at one corner which you will think there don't have any F&B shop. We took awhile to find the shop.

Since we have 6 persons, we order Ala carte instead of order by head count so that we can have the ingredients that we like. We also ordered their signature dishes: steam big lala ( those with very thick shell) & lala fried meehoon.

The presentation of this 2 dishes are not very nice. I judged the
food when it served and though won't be nice. Surprisingly the mee
hoon taste great because it soak up the sweetness of the lala.
The big lala was steamed with chinese rice wine, ginger and wolfberry.
Fire and duration of steaming are well controlled and the texture of
the lala turn up very nice not too chewy.

thin slice pork
slice of perfection!

the ingredients
As you can see we also ordered giantic pork ball, fish ball, fish
paste wanton, mushroom, fu chuk and tofu pok. The soup they
only have chicken soup and tom yam.

We didn't want to over cook the crab. So we put in 2 crabs into the pot after finished all the ingredients. The crabs are fresh and sweet. I enjoyed the crabs very much because it is so fresh that I thought we are eating in Pulau Ketam :)

Everyone were pleased with the food and service, they have nothing to complaint. Frankly, the chicken soup taste a bit bland. Me dar keep saying that I'm fussy. I'm not being fussy, I just give my feedback on the food and I believe nothing in the world is perfect.

The bill is RM280 and i find it cheap compared to other steamboat shop because the ingredients are fresh, some more we had seafood and 5 bottles of Heineken beer.

Sentuh charcoal hokkien noodle

I heard of famous Ah Yap charcoal hokkien noodle in Sentul but never been there before. Finally I had a chance to taste it because they opened a new outlet in Damansara Utama.

Special: Cucumber with assam
first sip you will feel very refreshing because the weather is hot.
As you drink more the drink is getting sweeter!
They add lots of sugar and to make it sweet.

So called famous hokkien noodle
Ain't no famous! The noodle taste horrible and served cold.

Yin yang pork ribs
taste good but the meat is slightly tough

Choi Dam cooked with fermented bean curd ( fu yu)

Too salty, add too much of the fermented bean curd.

Xing Kong Tofu
The sauce taste too strong until can't taste the eggie aroma in the Japanese tofu

All of us were very disappointed with the food. Since they are famous, the hokkien noodle should taste good but the truth is the other way! It doesn't have the charcoal aroma and it's not tasty at all. The shop is short handed so when the noodle is ready to serve no one is free to take and serve it. The end up the noodle is cold when it served.

Zachary John Quinto

I'm not a Star Trek fans but last night to watch Star Trek because a lot of people in FB give good comments about this movie.

During the show, I notice Zachary John Quinto who casted in the role of young Spock has sexy hazel eyes which was attracted me to him.

Those who know me well will know that I don't quite like ang mor but Zach is the exceptional case.... lol. He's just sooooo sexy!

Tien Pin Mee Pok

Mee Pok is a type of Teow Chew dish and is usually served tossed in oil from frying lard ( chu yuo zha ). It is a staple offering in hawker centers and coffee shops in Singapore.

Dry Mee Pok with chili RM5
A bowl of home make fish ball with home make fish cake served together with the noodle

The sauce that tossed in is very important for ensuring good smooth texture in the noodles.

Fried Chu Cheong Fun RM 3.50
Is one of those ordinary fried chu cheong fun you can get in a Dim Sum restaurant.

Mini Dumpling RM6
Nothing spectacular

The presentation of the Mee Pok might look very simple but it is delicious and very fragrant. Every single strand of noodles are coated with the oil from the frying lard which is the most essential part of the dish. One minor setback is the noodle is a bit soggy. Home make fish ball and fish cake were good. You can taste the fishball made from fresh fish and you taste more fish than flour.
